Grimm’s Gathering

A pop-up festival celebrating stories of all shapes, featuring masterclasses with leading musicians, authors and artists.  Workshops will take place over The Old Town Hall in Rotherham.

 Grimm and Co invite you all to Grimm’s Gathering. Pop-in to our events in our Pop-Up space to enjoy stories of all sorts of shapes and sizes.

In 2025 Rotherham will become the world’s first Children’s Capital of Culture, designed and delivered by local children and young people. The journey to 2025 starts now, with loads of creative events and activities made for and by children and young people aged 0-to-25 – including Grimm’s Gathering!

The events take place on Tues 31st May, Weds 1st June and Sat 4th June, from 10am – 4pm. There will be something for everyone, and all activities are free!

Join us in these fun, interactive mini-workshops to explore new instruments, experiment with sounds and enjoy making music with musician and singer Rosie Hood.

Pop-up chompers, make a very simple V-fold pop-up mechanism that we can use to create the mouth of a creature, and feed it it’s favourite food.

Pop-up people, a simple V-fold pop-up shaped like a person that can be decorated to look like you or your favorite character.

Pom pom pop-ups, use circles of coloured paper to create a pop-up pom pom shape and then turn it into an animal.

Postcards of Rotherham

Artist Trish O’Shea has explored Rotherham town centre and taken photographs that show and reveal details and viewpoints that might sometimes be overlooked or hidden.  She will be sharing and presenting these images in an intriguing way, inviting visitors to make their very own collaged postcards of Rotherham and to share about their own spaces and places in the town. There will be ready-made postcards to take away and share with others and post back.

Carnival Arts UK helped us find one of the best Carnival Costume makers in the country, Tracey Samuels. She will be with us all day on the Saturday at Grimm’s Gathering helping you to make your own Carnival mask.
