Ever After

Do you enjoy storytelling and using your imagination?

Our Ever After Interactive Role Play sessions involve children from the age of 0 to 8 years old.  It is an area that parents/cares can bring their young person and play together.  It hosts story-themed areas such as a café, post office, trolls home and a dressing-up station.  In Ever After, the children can be who they want to be, a story character they already know, or they can make a brand new one up.
The children and parents/carers have a 45-minute play time and then are read a story by a staff member or one of you lovely volunteers for the last 15 minutes of the session.
This is a responsible role and would suit someone who is good at communicating with both adults and children.  You would not be there to look after the children but to encourage both adults and children to interact with the area.
The storytelling part of the session requires confidence in telling the story in an animated and engaging way, producing gasps of excitement, quizzical looks and pure laughter from the children.
The sessions are about one and a half hours long in total.  This is so you can be there 10 to 15 minutes beforehand to check that the space is set up and then time afterwards to tidy and set the space for the next session.
We run the sessions three times a day, Tuesday to Saturday, so you would need to be here for the following times:
9.30 to 11am
11 to 12.30pm
13.15 to 14.45
You could opt to do all three sessions a day or perhaps just one or two sessions a day.  Ideally, to help with scheduling, we are looking for a bit of ongoing commitment for this role; for example, if you could do a certain day each week, that would be brilliant.  We do appreciate any help you can give, though.
There will be lots of wonderful training provided by staff and a trial period to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident in the role.  We have such good feedback from both parents and children about Ever After; it really is a lovely activity for all.
