Grimm & Co Move to Expand Their Enchanting Offer

Some Big News About

To our wonderful supporters,

We’re getting in touch with an important update from all of us here at Grimm & Co. As you know, we are soon going to be moving premises into our new home at the former Talbot Lane Methodist Church on Moorgate Street in Rotherham. Though a small step geographically – our new building is only 350 metres from our current Apothecary to the Magical! – this will be a huge leap for Grimm & Co as a charity, allowing us to do far more work with children, young people, and families in South Yorkshire. Our much bigger new building will become an incredibly magical story destination, attracting human and magical visitors from far and wide, which will give us the space and capacity to run more immersive and innovative free writing workshops for even more children.

Our plan is now to move out of our current building and into our new premises during July and August 2020. Moving now will allow us to make an immediate start on our plans for developing new and exciting writing programmes and other interactive experiences, and it will also give us a much larger space to work in. This is essential as our staff and volunteers look at how to return safely to face-to-face working, as the government restrictions put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 begin to ease.

Following our move, we will not be returning to our regular pattern of writing workshops straight away. In line with government guidance, and based on our Board of Trustees’ recommendations around protecting everyone that we work with, there will instead be a transitional period where we will undertake a combination of digital delivery, mobile/pop-up workshops, and other occasional one-off sessions. We will, of course, thoroughly risk assess and plan all of our activities to ensure we’re keeping everyone safe at all times, and will keep you up-to-date every step of the way. We can confirm that we will not be running any more writing workshops at our current premises and our physical shop on Doncaster Gate will not be reopening before we move; however, our online shop is now fulfilling orders again, so you can head there to stock up on essential potion supplies, novel tea boxes and more.

This is an important move for Grimm & Co and for the children, young people and families we work with. However, we know that leaving the current Grimm & Co building will be a huge change for some of those young people, as well as our supporters and customers who feel at home there. We understand that any change can be hard to deal with, especially at a time when so many other things are uncertain, but we want to reassure you that we’re not going away and we will be keeping in touch with you with regular news, updates and activities until we can see you again in real life. The apothecary may be invisible to the human world for a little while, but when it reappears it will be bigger and better than ever, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

We are very much looking forward to this next chapter in Grimm & Co’s story and we really hope that you are too! We really appreciate your continued support at this time, and those of you in the B.F.G or ODD club will continue to see the same member benefits as you always have done.

Please do get in touch if you have any thoughts or questions on this, but rest assured that you will be the first to know about any further updates.

With very best wishes,
The Grimm & Co Team
