Meet our new People Manager!

Towards the end of 2021, we welcomed Amanda to the team at Grimm & Co.  She will be taking charge of the human staff and volunteers here at Grimm, organising training and development opportunities, arranging wellbeing events, and generally looking after our best interests.  Here’s what Amanda had to say!

People Manager, Amanda, with her dog Leo sitting on her knee.

Hello everyone!

I have been hired at Grimm and Co as the People Manager, because I love meeting new people, getting to know them and building friendships. I was interested in working for Grimm and Co because it is an amazing charity.  The work it does to support and encourage young people’s imaginations is incredible. As a charity it relies heavily on volunteers, and I feel privileged to be working alongside this marvellous group of people who are generous to give their time and skills to support our cause.

We have now moved into our wonderful premises at the Old Town Hall in Rotherham. The Grimm and Co shop is looking fantastic with all its magical goodies.  The Writers Pad is just along the arcade, taking you right to the centre of the planet of Imagination.  It is all young people need to create the most brilliant stories.

We need you!

We are always looking for extraordinary people who have time on their hands to come in and help us deliver our story writing workshops.  These take place on Tuesday to Friday 9am to 12.45pm.

We are always on the lookout for Shop Assistants to help make potions and serve to customers in our magical shop (all proceeds go to the charity).  The shop is open from 9am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday (although we do close early on Thursdays to allow the dragons time to shop in peace).  Any hours you can give are very much appreciated, and we can be flexible with whatever your availability.

We also need mentors for our out-of-school clubs, which currently take place on Tues and Thurs afternoons 3.45pm to 5.15pm.  Our Saturday clubs take place at 10.15am to 12.15pm and then 1.45pm to 3.45pm.

We have many other volunteer roles within the charity, from painting and decorating, van driving, help setting up our workshop theatres and with festivals, to needing artists and social media support.

I am especially looking forward to welcoming new volunteers to feed my need to meet new amazing people. So if you are a current volunteer, thank you for everything you do.  Hello if you are thinking of volunteering!  What are you waiting for? Come in and see me pleeeeease!!!!!
